From the SF Bay Area Craig’s List job ads today:
We are assembling a team to build a technology demo of a fantasy sandbox MMO using the Hero Engine. This is a 90-day contract. Work to be performed in the Seattle area. Housing provided. Successful team members may be offered long-term contracts to work on the full development of the MMO following the completion of the Technology Demo.
- Location: Seattle

- This is a contract job.
- OK to highlight this job opening for persons with disabilities
- Principals only. Recruiters, please don’t contact this job poster.
- Please, no phone calls about this job!
- Please do not contact job poster about other services, products or commercial interests.
This might be more relevant to some people in Austin, since BioWare was using the Hero Engine with SWTOR and some of those people are now out of a job.
I am still waiting for somebody to come out and praise or repudiate the platform based on their experience on that project.
Fantasy sandbox though. I wonder what is up?
It’s the Pathfinder MMO.

That lines up with what they have on their site:
Goblinworks has an opportunity for short-term contract work on the Pathfinder Online Technology Demo if you are an experienced artist or programmer with prior experience working on an MMO or a AAA title. Because the Technology Demo is being developed on a short timeline, we are only able to consider highly qualified individuals at this time. Applicants would be expected to work in the Seattle area through the end of September. If you feel that you meet the qualifications we’re seeking and are interested in joining the Goblinworks team, please send your resume to resumes@goblinworks.com with “Technology Demo Application” in the subject header. The team that works on the Technology Demo will be considered for long-term full-time employment with Goblinworks after the Technology Demo is complete.

Heh, soon as I read this blog post I was going to cross-check against recent Kickstarter projects (including Pathfinder), you beat me to it. :-)

Seeing as to how they were going to be doing it in Seattle, I was really hoping that it would have something to do with a Shadowrun MMO. I am still holding out hope that one day there will be a decent Shadowrun game.

90-day contract, housing provided, *chance* of going full time? That could either be great, or be so very very miserable.

Wilhelm, our SWTOR guild has a guy in it that worked on the Hero Engine when it was being developed. His indication to us has been that its a flexible system that is as good (or as bad) as your developers are.
