As I noted before, the going theory in the forums regarding the ha10kx2k.sys blue screen when trying to run two EVE Online clients on the same box is the Creative Labs drivers for the Audigy series of sound cards.
And, of course, I have a Creative Audigy 2 card in my system.
Or I had one.
I got around to pulling it out yesterday, which turned out to be a bit of a chore. It came installed in the system and seemed reluctant to leave. It took a few minutes of wiggling, then tugging, then ardent forcing to get it to let go of its position on the motherboard.
But it came out eventually, with only one cut to my finger.
Then I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, and launched two sessions of EVE Online.
I was a little paranoid. The blue screen doesn’t happen if you just leave two sessions sitting in the hanger. It only happens when you get stuff going on screen, like a battle or a mining operation.
So out I flew to mine and zap a few rats.
And I mined and I mined and I mined.
It seems that the drivers for the Audigy 2 sound card were the problem.
But they are a problem no more on my system. Now I just need to get the sound card on the motherboard, a C-97 model, going. It has a driver issue of its own.
