Faults of the New Shaman

Our move over to the horde side of the Lightninghoof PvP-RP server has been progressing slowly.

We’re trying new classes and getting used to new home towns.

One of the classes I have been playing with is the shaman.  It is a fun class so far and I have a lot to learn about it, mana management being high on the list.

But I have a problem with the class.

At level 16 I got the ghost wolf form, which is a travel form that gives a speed boost akin to the druid’s cheetah form.  That part is great.

The problem is that the ghost wolf is… well… a ghost.  Unfortunately, for somebody who has spent a bit of time playing a rogue and a lot of time playing a druid in cat form, being a ghost has the same visual effect as being stealthed.

Ghost Wolf

And while I know at some higher intellectual level that being a ghost is not the same as being stealthed, something in my brain keeps making that assumption.

I’ll be running across the Barrens and see something to harvest on the far side of a few aggro mobs, so I’ll just weave between them like they can’t see me.

Only they can see me.

At that point it is usually a good thing I am in travel form because I have to run away for a bit while I remind myself that I am not stealthed.

That lasts for about five minutes and then I do something similar.

It is really annoying.  But it is like breaking any habit, it is going to take time.

I think, of all the things blizzard could possibly put in a cash shop, new skins or models for the druid forms is the one which would make me consider bombing them :x

If there hadn’t been the Druid form revamp lately, I’d agree.
So I don’t think there will be such a thing.

Then again, to have my Tauren Druid look like a pink care bear, complete with pink heard on the belly – I’d buy that.
    …or Hello Kitty! cat form!
    *runs and hides*

HEh similar things happen to me if I spend too much time playing one toon over another. An example, last week I had spent most of the week playing my warrior, but when it came time to raid I switched back to my shaman. Well my keybinds do different things on different toons…so everytime we went to go in to a fight I would want to make sure my commanding shout was up but, yeah I was on my shaman….and that button is bound to Bloodlust. So for the first three fights in ToC I would hear a chorus of…dude you did NOT do that again…….

    Was rather funny actually.

Switching from shaman to rogue I often have the reverse problem – I keep forgetting I can stealth. So I’ll take on a few creatures and wonder why they seem to be harder than usual. Then I remember that I was forgetting to open with Garrotte and the reason I didn’t is because I wasn’t in stealth. DOH!

Like most mana-dependent classes mana is a hassle in the early levels. It does get better though, especially once you get the mana spring totem. If you go enhancement the Shamanistic Rage talent basically eliminates mana issues.

Yeah, it isn’t very ghost-like. I don’t think I can, for example, run on water in that form.

Of course, in Azeroth when I die, my ghost can’t even walk through a picket fence, it has to jump over or walk around.
