You Know That Is Tomorrow, Right?

So, in addition to the big important question, I have messing with me again.  The state of my order today, September 15th.

Shouldn’t that be on the way already?

But no, cancellation is still listed as an available action.  So it is still somewhere in a warehouse, presumably.

We shall see how good Amazon is I suppose.

And not to bag on Luke even further, but “Mark Hamill, et al?”  Alec Guinness had already won an Oscar and had been knighted while Hamill was still in grade school.  By Grabthar’s hammer, by the suns of Warvan, this shall not stand!

Amazon is amazing. I ordered a gaming mouse with overnight shipping (Amazon prime!) and at 10 p.m. it still wasn’t shipped.

It was at my doorstep by noon.

Mine was shipped. I’m confident it will be on my doorstep tomorrow. Did you know that Mark Hamill was only available for Star Wars because he was in an accident and lost the role of the oldest son on “Eight is Enough”?

If you’ve got release day shipping, Amazon typically doesn’t update your order to show it shipping until the night before.

Amazon rarely lets me down, but sometimes I think they just like to raise my blood pressure. Fortunately, high blood pressure is not one of my many flaws.

Now, did you all vote in the viewing order poll?

@Esri – There was something about that in the audio commentary for episode IV. Carrie Fisher talks about there being two groups lined up for the Luke/Leia/Han trio and how those two groups were formed, if I recall right. Have to go back and listen to that again.

I do recall that Carrie Fisher said her price for doing the audio commentary was a pristine copy of the Star Wars Holiday Special.

@Wilhelm – The holiday special is awful enough to induce a sanity check in many people who watch it, so I have to wonder what she did with her copy. (Especially since I’m pretty sure she’s given up drinking.)

Hmmm, the guy whose career highlight is the movie you are trying to sell…or the guy who said the movie your trying to sell is utter crap and should never have been made (rough paraphrase)…decisions, decisions. (-:

I’ve gotten release day shipping from Amazon many times and have yet to be let down, at least for anything within their control. I won’t hold the most recent release day order against them, due to the logistics involved with getting that to me.

And yes, I did vote in the poll; I’m one of your ‘other’ responses.

What pisses me off the most is that in the version being sold today, they edit in horrible-actor-boy in at the end instead of the old guy who originally was supposed to be an adult Anakin.

I have a VHS tape with the original scene. I wonder how much it’s worth. :P

Oh, and Mark Hamill had his accident after “A New Hope”. That’s why he looks so different in the second movie. I believe he filmed “Corvette Summer” before the accident. I know this because I had the biggest crush on him during my high school years after the movie came out and followed everything he did.

Apparently he went to my high school, but a few years before I did.

@Gina – As I said in the other thread, the change to young Anakin also leads to the question, why does he get to be young again, but Obi-wan is stuck as an old guy? But if I say that too loud, George Lucas will edit in Ewan McGregor next time around for all of the ghost Obi-wan scenes.

Update – Nearly 6pm pacific time and the order still shows as “shipping soon” and cancellation still appears to be an option. I work two blocks from a Best Buy, maybe they will just have them bring it to me.

Update: It got flagged as shipped and tracking shows it went into the system about 2 minutes after I initially typed this comment. It is on the way.

Lol @ the Mark Hamill credit although in fairness he does have a very good video game CV.

His acting in Star Wars was awkward to the point of hilarity but he redeemed himself in my eyes with his excellent voice acting subsequently especially his “Joker” stuff.

@mbp – Oh, clearly he found his niche with voice acting. But back in 1977, with him and Carrie Fisher’s changing accent, the people who would go on to be stars (or who already were) were easy to spot.
