SWTOR Launch Date Announced – December 20, 2011

Hot on the heels of Diablo III being pushed into early next year (surely a coincidence), I got an email this morning from EA announcing the launch date of Star Wars: The Old Republic. (Those in the EU got an email showing a launch two days later.)

Of course, with a pre-order, you might get to play earlier than that date.  Maybe.  The official pre-order FAQ isn’t solid on that point.

Pre-ordering also ensures that you may be granted Early Game Access before the Game’s official release. More information on Early Game Access will be provided at a later time.

The emphasis above is mine.  I am not sure how you can ensure something that “may” happen.  We shall see.  Begun early access debate has.

And that still means we have a good three months to go before launch.  What will we do until then?

    I’m hoping early game access is something like a month. They keep talking about wanting to ensure the servers aren’t overloaded and the entry of players is spread out to avoid queues. Best way to do that is for us pre-orders to start in November.

    @pitrelli – Oh yeah, Game Ninja has been stealing my content for a while now, along with a few others. Most of them suppress links in the post and ping backs, but not them. So whenever I link back to an older post, which is almost always, I am made aware of their thieving ways.

    Delete that ping back from your post if you would be so kind. No need to give them any more notoriety than they would otherwise get.

    Argh. December is my absolute busiest time of year, and I barely have time to eat and sleep the week before Christmas. That pre-order I put in isn’t looking so smart now.
