Onward to Jerusalem – The Bloodbath at C-J6MT

In our darkest hour, only one alliance reached out to us amidst the hate and persecution of the opening days of the Great War. Where every wretched honorpubbie pointed fingers and demanded that we be purged from the game ~for the good of EVE~, Red Alliance – at the time Death, Nync, and Mactep – offered us succor. They gave us a place in Insmother, making C-J6 the second sacred goon homeland after S-U8A4.

History matters. Death and the new RA have their backs against the wall facing the southern Russian bloc, and while we don’t normally get involved in this war except to vulture the odd supercap kill, C-J6, capital of Insmother, is holy ground – so holy that we will be temp-blueing PL and their allies to help ensure that C-J does not fall. We have helped defend C-J6 many times over the years, and tonight is no different. Tonight C-J6 is in its final timer, and -A- will be bringing absolutely everything to bear to capture the Jewel of Insmother. This fight will last hours – prepare yourself.

Vee will be forming Drakes. We need a minimum of 35 Scimitars or we won’t make it. This will be too far a deployment to reship, so SCIMITARS. Scimitars >Drakes> etc.

That means form up NOW, jerkfaces.

This is the message that Gaff forwarded to me through IM while I sat at the office.  And epic battle was in the works.  A proof that history matters, that memories are long, that some things transcend momentary alliances in EVE.  If only it would hold on until I could get home from work.

What would happen at C-J6MT?

More came through as I sat working.

Our policy is simple: Insmother itself can be lost, but C-J6 is like fucking Jerusalem, the sacred common home of both Goonswarm and the Russian playerbase. It must not fall. No ultimatums will dissuade us. ~goonswarm always pays its debts~

Over at EVE News 24, the impending battle was picked up and a bounty was offered for information.

And the battle went off, a clash of epic proportions, with time dilation down to 10%.

Unfortunately for me, the timing was like this.

And so by the time I logged on, I was able to hear Dabigredboat guiding the remains of the CFC fleet back from C-J6MT.  They made a good chunk of the journey via wormhole.

By then though, the battle had been lost.  Red Alliance was out.

But the event was noted.  There is a PL view of the battle up now on EVE News 24, along with another take on the battle [this is the one you want to read], as well as a note about the system changing hands over at Jester’s Trek.    There is also some video up that shows a glimpse of the battle.  I grabbed a screen shot of that.  And there is a bigger video up on YouTube now.

C-J6MT is a crowded place

As for the damage, outside of the loss of the system, I have yet to see a kill board tally that was not confused by the temporary alliances that sprang up for this operation.  But with ship kills in the system past the 600 range, losses had to be reaching towards the 100 billion mark.

In reading this, you may say, “So what?”

This is the fourth pillar, as played out in EVE.  This is the story made by the players.  This is about approximately 2,000 people making something happen together. An epic battle of the sort you do not find in many games.  This is the butt of the whole “I was there” CCP promotion.

And dammit, I wasn’t there.

If you have links to any further information about the battle, feel free to put them in the comments.

@Copptertopper – Indeed he manages to use turns of phrase that I could never pull off with a straight face. He is like the Goon Churchill.

But I suspect that somebody who names themselves after an obscure ancient civilization might have a grasp of such things.
