Hull Tanking – My Most Elite Certificate Preserved

Let it never be said that CCP does not have a sense of humor.

I noted a while back that, as a bit of a laugh, that I have managed to earn the coveted “Hull Tanking Elite” certificate.

However, with Rubicon, the whole certificate system went through a revamp, in an attempt to give it more focus.  So now we have mastery system that comes up with each ship… which is different, though I am not sure it is any more accurate.  Under the old system, I was pretty sure I was elite with the Drake.  Now I am not so sure.

Level III overall? *cry*

Level III overall? *cry*

So the old certificates were washed away with the excess bits once Rubicon came out… except for one.

I was claiming my items from the EVE 2013 Advent Calendar… which you should go do as well because… free stuff!  And you can claim prizes from the days that have passed, so you can still catch up.

CCP Staff as they really are...

Anyway, amongst the items that I claimed was a special edition commodity… a copy of the now obsolete hull tanking certificate to keep as a reminder that I once achieved such a silly thing.

Hull Tanking FTW!

Hull Tanking FTW!

That has CCP written all over it.

    Yikes! The CFC’s secret weapon!

I know people have spoken to Fozzie a few times about hull tanking and he correctly observed the main issue is the rep amount of the reppers. He’s too much of a perfectionist to allow such a broken state of affairs to continue forever.

If hull tanking could be fixed it would be AMAZING on bait ships. No one ever pulls out of a fight when what they’re shooting is in structure.

Maybe we could also see new remote hull repper logis.

Given that many industrial ships have poor armour and shields but have enormous hull HP, hull tanking is actually used in game in certain (rather rare) situations. Examine the orca and rorqual.

What would be awesome, would be ships that had hull-tanking bonuses.

For me, Amarr should be armor, Caldari should be shield, Minmatar should be armor or shield (because they’re putting stuff together from found parts) and Gallente should be hull.

Toldain has one, though I haven’t claimed it yet, as I’m wondering “What will I do with this?” Put it in the hangar next to some other similar items, I guess.

But yeah, I have a similar reaction to the Mastery stuff. It’s kind of a kitchen sink in there – everything that might possibly one day be slightly tangentially related to something that’s relevant to flying this ship.
