This year Blizzard April Fools appears to have fallen even further out of favor down in Irvine. I was wondering if it showing up on Easter would change this or not. I checked the main sites as well as the forums for each of the current Blizzard games and below is all I found.
I’ll check back again later and add anything else that might pop up during the day. If I missed anything, leave a comment to let me know.
World of Warcraft
This year saw the announcement of a whole series of new “micro holidays” including:
- We’re All Elves Now!
- Future Timewalking Event
- Looking for Queue
In addition there is the traditional patch notes. This year they are listed as Preview World of Warcraft 8.0.41 Patch Notes and includes such gems as:
The drop rates of mounts from raids and dungeons have been adjusted to ensure that that one mount you’ve been farming for the past 3 years will drop immediately for the newest member of your guild.
And that was about it.
Overwatch
Nothing
Hearthstone
What appears to be a real post about a month-long event.
A Murloc language version of the game.
Heroes of the Storm
Nothing
StarCraft II
Nothing
StarCraft Remastered
Too busy celebrating its 20th Anniversary yesterday. You can get SC themed items in other Blizz games this weekend.
Diablo III
Nothing
Past Years
If this effort leaves you jonesing for more, you can always look back at past years:
And so it goes. I think it might be telling that the official Blizzard April Fool’s archive stops at 2015.
WoWpedia indicates that the Blizzard Korean sites may have done something, but I do not speak Korean so it is hard to tell. Otherwise they have just the two items I mentioned in the post.
But if you really want to cast a wide net, the Washington Post is trying to list out all of the April Fools items on the internet.

Blizzard has been posting a bunch of “realistic mount” videos coming in BfA to their twitter too for April Fools – https://twitter.com/Warcraft/status/980437124670423040

@Stargrace – Ah, there they are. They did three of those then went back to normal tweets it seems.

@Anon – I added the Hearthstone item. Thanks for the head’s up. That hit after I put up the post this morning. But I don’t think the console thing on the StarCraft II page is an April Fools joke. It has been up all month as part of the celebration of StarCraft’s 20th anniversary.

Hello, I am a Korean. On the blizzard website, they introduced us to a brand-new blizzard arcade with games like Fighters of the Storm, VR Overwatch, WoW dance battle, and more. For each game, there were detailed instructions, photos and explanations, making several people believe it. Here is the link so you can look at the photos. https://www.blizzard.kr/ko/this-is-real/arcade/

@Anon – Yes, from 2011. I did not see it on the SCII news page this year. What was on the SCII page was a special in-game console skin. That wasn’t an April Fools joke.
