TAGN Fantasy Critic League 2026 – Week Seven and Six Titles Launch

As I had been saying, week seven was a big week for the league with six titles launching, bringing the total number of players with at least one title on the board up to eight.

Fantasy Critic League – Like Fantasy Football, but for Video Games

But did we get any good releases?  Well, that is what we’ll find out.  But first, the score board as we left it last week.

Week 6 Scores

We had just five players with scores at the end of week six, so three more arrived in week seven.

First out of the game was Mewgenics.

Mewgenics

The game had early review scores the week before and was looking pretty strong.

  • Mewgenics
    • [Picked by TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)]
    • Now has a score of 90.1

I will absolutely take any game that lands at 90.  It didn’t hold there, but by the time it landed as the first launch of the week, it was still around 89, which put me on the scoreboard.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)
      • Score has gone UP from 0 to 19.3
      • Moved from 6th place to 2nd place
    • Corr’s Creative Collective (Corr)
      • Moved from 2nd place to 3rd place
    • Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)
      • Moved from 3rd place to 4th place
    • Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)
      • Moved from 4th place to 5th place
    • Anthania Interactive (Ula)
      • Moved from 5th place to 6th place

That was enough to get me into second place, though I wasn’t expecting to stay there for long with just one title scoring.

Then, on Tuesday, we got three more initial scores for the week’s titles.

  • Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Now has a score of 75.3
  • Romeo is a Dead Man
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Now has a score of 72.8
  • Mario Tennis Fever
    • [Picked by Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)]
    • Now has a score of 75.4

Under 80 is starting to get into the regret zone.  You still have a score and it isn’t dragging you down too much, but you need a lot of 85 to 90 titles to counter act more than one or two of those.

Romeo is a Dead Man was especially interesting in the reviews, because it wasn’t like everybody went “it’s fine” or anything.

Romeo is a Dead Man

Some people loved it, while others disdained it, so scores ran from 40 to 95, with a fair share of those in the middle.

Later in the day Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties got a small bump in score.

  • Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Score has gone UP from 74.9 to 76.5

Then it and Romeo released, the combined pair pushing Cyanbane up the scoreboard.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)
      • Score has gone UP from 14.7 to 24.2
      • Moved from 4th place to 2nd place
    • TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)
      • Moved from 2nd place to 3rd place
    • Corr’s Creative Collective (Corr)
      • Moved from 3rd place to 4th place

Cyanbane had three titles launched, but was still in second place behind Shintar who was still sitting on two strong releases.

And then both of Cyanbane’s titles this week settled a bit.

  • Romeo is a Dead Man
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Score has gone DOWN from 74.0 to 72.9
  • Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Score has gone DOWN from 76.4 to 75.2

Meanwhile, Mario Tennis Fever, rose up a bit.

Mario Tennis Fever

The reviews seemed to be disappointed that the game was… well… mostly about playing tennis.  Or maybe they object to blue socks on the court.  I don’t know.  What did they expect?

  • Mario Tennis Fever
    • [Picked by Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)]
    • Score has gone UP from 74.8 to 75.8

Then there was REANIMAL, which picked up enough early reviews to get a score.

  • REANIMAL
    • [Picked by S Class Warfare Studios (p0tsh0t)]
    • Now has a score of 80.4

A solid mid-pack score to open with.

Mario landed on Thursday morning and put Shilgrod on the scoreboard, but at the end of the lineup for now.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)
      • Score has gone UP from 0 to 5.5
      • Moved from 13th place to 7th place

High on Life 2, which my brain keeps converting to Half Life 2, started getting score updates on Thursday morning.

High on Life 2

It seemed to bounce around a bit as the day went on, so I included [time stamps] to show how it progressed.

  • High on Life 2
    • [Picked by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)]
    • Now has a score of 76.7 [6:03]
  • High on Life 2
    • [Picked by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)]
    • Score has gone UP from 76.7 to 78.6 [8:03]
  • High on Life 2
    • [Picked by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)]
    • Score has gone DOWN from 78.6 to 77.5 [10:03]
  • High on Life 2
    • [Picked by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)]
    • Score has gone DOWN from 77.5 to 74.5 [12:03]
  • High on Life 2
    • [Picked by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)]
    • Score has gone UP from 75.3 to 76.5 [20:02]

Not a huge range of variation in those updates, but enough to make the bot, which only cares about moves that cause greater than a 1 point change, to ping us a few time.

But as it rolled over to Friday both REANIMAL and High on Life 2 released and the scoreboard updated once more.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)
      • Score has gone UP from 12.8 to 19.3
      • Moved from 5th place to 3rd place
    • TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)
      • Moved from 3rd place to 4th place
    • Corr’s Creative Collective (Corr)
      • Moved from 4th place to 5th place
    • S Class Warfare Studios (p0tsh0t)
      • Score has gone UP from 0 to 10.8
      • Moved from 12th place to 7th place
    • Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod)
      • Moved from 7th place to 8th place

All of that ended up with the scoreboard looking like this come Saturday at 17:00 Pacific time.

Week 7 Scores

Shintar holds on to first place for another week with two titles released, holding off Cyanbane and Nimgimli who each have three titles on the board.

I am at the top of those with only one title out so far, but one title does not a season make.

Then we had more bid this week.

  • Bids in TAGN League
    • LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight
      • Won by Corr’s Creative Collective (Corr) with a bid of $32
        • Dropped game ‘Kiln’ conditionally
      • S Class Warfare Studios (p0tsh0t)’s bid of $21 did not succeed: Publisher was outbid.
      • Play Forever Mwahahaha (Shintar)’s bid of $20 did not succeed: Publisher was outbid.
      • TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)’s bid of $7 did not succeed: Publisher was outbid.
  • Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement
    • Won by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli) with a bid of $12
      • Dropped game ‘Neverness to Everness’ conditionally
  • Horizon Hunters Gathering
    • Won by Anthania Interactive (Ula) with a bid of $1

Corr won in the grab for LEGO Batman, which Cyanbane let go last week in exchange for MLB The Show 26, throwing down nearly half his remaining budget to get that game in his lineup.  Several of us had our eye on it as well it seems.

The Nimgimli grabbed Bloodstained for $12, dropping Neverness to Everness in the transaction.

Finally, Ula swept in with my trademarked $1 bid to grab Horizon Hunters Gathering.

Then we had those betting against titles.

  • Counter Picks in TAGN League
    • Invincible VS
      • Won by S Class Warfare Studios (p0tsh0t) with a bid of $6 (🎯 Counter Pick)
    • Halo: Campaign Evolved
      • Won by Pretty Blue Fox Games (Bhagpuss) with a bid of $10 (🎯 Counter Pick)
    • Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV
      • Won by Anthania Interactive (Ula) with a bid of $1 (🎯 Counter Pick)

I am actually feeling a little bit exposed on the Halo: Campaign Evolved front, it having dropped its November date for just a “2026” promise.  That feels like no room at all to slip.  However, I am currently holding on to it as a source says that “heads would roll” if it did not ship this year…. and we’re only half way through February.  Plenty of time to drop.

Then we got some updates on release targets for a few titles.

  • Mina the Hollower
    • [Picked by Pretty Blue Fox Games (Bhagpuss)]
    • Estimated release date changed from ‘2026’ to ‘Spring 2026’.
    • Note removed: ‘Latest kickstarter update points towards a 2026 release date.’.
  • Beast of Reincarnation
    • [Picked by Anthania Interactive (Ula)]
    • Release date changed from ‘Summer 2026’ to ‘Tuesday, August 04, 2026’.
  • Ghost of Yōtei: Legends
    • [Picked by Frabjous Day Enterprises (Archey)]
    • Release date changed from ‘2026’ to ‘Tuesday, March 10, 2026’.

All of which leaves the next ten titles set to release looking like this.

Coming Up, but not for Week 8

Next week… we’ve got nothing.  No releases are scheduled, and there is only one more release slated for February.  A big one… but that isn’t much to have for two weeks.

So we’ll need some bids or score updates or dates being announced if I am going to have much for the week eight post.  We might have to hold out until week ten for any big changes on the scoreboard.

TAGN Fantasy Critic League 2026 – Week Six Sees Two More Players on the Score Board

And both players ended up with decent scores.  We’re here at week six… which means just forty-six weeks left to go in the league… and there were a pile of updates.

Fantasy Critic League – Like Fantasy Football, but for Video Games

We are now far enough in that I am going to follow the pattern of posting the previous week’s score so we can see how things changed over the last seven days.

Week 5 Scores

As we see, only three people even had scores last week, with Shintar leading the pack with two titles released already and the league predicting her for victory and the crown.

The first thing that popped up on Monday was a score update for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined.

Dragon Quest VII Reimagined

The title was out the gate strong with some early reviews.

  • Dragon Quest VII Reimagined
    • [Picked by Corr’s Creative Collective (Corr)]
    • Now has a score of 85.1

85 is a solid score and, when it hit its release at the turn of the day to Thursday, that put Corr up on the scoreboard, landing him in second place.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Corr’s Creative Collective (Corr)
      • Score has gone UP from 0 to 14.6
      • Moved from 10th place to 2nd place
    • Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)
      • Moved from 2nd place to 3rd place
    • Anthania Interactive (Ula)
      • Moved from 3rd place to 4th place

Shintar held onto first, but both Nimgimli and Ula dropped back a position.

The same day we got the first score in for Nioh 3, the other title set to launch last week.

  • Nioh 3
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Now has a score of 86.9

Again, another strong showing, and as the next day dawned we saw another shift in the scoreboard as Cyanbane arrived.

Nioh 3

However, between that first score and the release it sagged a bit on more reviews… and Dragon Quest climbed a bit.  Not by much, but enough to leave Corr in second place for now.

  • Publisher Score Updates
    • Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)
      • Score has gone UP from 0 to 14.8
      • Moved from 13th place to 3rd place
    • Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)
      • Moved from 3rd place to 4th place
    • Anthania Interactive (Ula)
      • Moved from 4th place to 5th place

Nioh 3 moved up and down a bit as more reviews came in.

  • Nioh 3
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Score has gone DOWN from 84.8 to 83.7
  • Nioh 3
    • [Picked by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane)]
    • Score has gone UP from 83.7 to 84.7

But it did not move enough to change the rankings on the board.

That was all we had for score updates that warranted a ping by the league bot, so the scoreboard ended up looking like this come Saturday evening.

Week 6 Scores

Shintar remains both in first place and the league pick for winner.  However, the league is favoring Potshot for second place and Nimgimli for last.  As usual, the league estimate is pretty wild until we get closer to the end of the year, but it is interesting to watch it evolve.

Then there were bids, where we had three new titles picked, and three counter picks in play.  Those were resolved like this:

  • Bids in TAGN League
    • PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant
      • Won by Frabjous Day Enterprises (Archey) with a bid of $10
    • Life is Strange: Reunion
      • Won by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli) with a bid of $8
      • Dropped game ‘Unannounced Fallout 3 Re-Something‘ conditionally
  • MLB The Show 26
    • Won by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane) with a bid of $1
    • Dropped game ‘LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight‘ conditionally

Then there were the counter picks:

  • Counter Picks in TAGN League
    • Unannounced Witcher 3 DLC
      • Won by Rusty Shackleford (Shilgrod) with a bid of $8 (🎯 Counter Pick)
    • Star Wars Zero Company
      • Won by Neutical Publishing (Cyanbane) with a bid of $1 (🎯 Counter Pick)
    • Unannounced Fallout 3 Re-Something
      • Hidalgo Trading Company (Pallais)’s bid of $10 did not succeed: Game is no longer eligible: Game has been dropped by the other player. (🎯 Counter Pick)
      • TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)’s bid of $6 did not succeed: Game is no longer eligible: Game has been dropped by the other player. (🎯 Counter Pick)

So there were three new titles picked, but two conditional drops, for a new increase of one pick.

And the counter picks… a gutsy move by Cyanbane, shorting Star Wars Zero Company… though I guess there is a rumor out that it will be pushed to 2027.

Shilgrod jumped on that Unannounced Witcher 3 DLC, which seems like a pretty reasonable counter pick right now.

And then Pallais might have out bid me in the rush to grab the Unannounced Fallout 3 Re-Something counter pick, but Nimgimli got out from underneath it with a conditional drop once we all found out that the count down was not for a remake but just for something related to the show.  That pulled the rug on that counter pick.

And then there were some release timing updates.

  • The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales
    • [Picked by Corr’s Creative Collective (Corr)]
    • Release date changed from ‘2026’ to ‘Thursday, June 18, 2026’.
  • Orbitals
    • [Picked by Pretty Blue Fox Games (Bhagpuss)]
    • Estimated release date changed from ‘2026’ to ‘Summer 2026’.
  • Planet of Lana II – Children of the Leaf
    • [Picked by Green River Gaming (Nimgimli)]
    • Release date changed from ‘Early 2026’ to ‘Thursday, March 05, 2026’.

All of that leaves the next ten upcoming titles as follows.

Coming Up for Week 7

This coming week is going to be a big week with SIX titles going live.  In fact, there was already a score update for one of them.

  • Mewgenics
    • [Picked by TAGN HQ (Wilhelm)]
    • Now has a score of 90.1

Looking like a strong pick for me, though we’ll have to see how it holds as reviews come in and launch day hits.  And that is where we stand at the end of week six.
