STO – Lifetime Subscription Perks

I got a note from Cryptic today that has a little more information about the “extras” that those of us who bought lifetime subscriptions to the game get.  Anything to validate my purchase!

STO LIFETIME PERKS

Greetings Lifetime Members!
We just wanted to thank you again for purchasing a Lifetime Subscription from us. As you already know, this entitles you to play the game without paying a monthly fee. But, that’s not where it ends. Later this month we’ll be releasing special perks for you, just to show our appreciation. Here’s some of what we’re working on, exclusive to Lifetime Subscribers:

Exclusive In-Game Chat Channel
Talk shop with other Lifetime Subscribers. Share thoughts and ideas about the game, or anything else.

Front-of-Queue Support
Waiting isn’t fun, and we don’t think you should have to do it. Any time the server is queued, you’ll go to the front of it.

In-Game Title
Visibly show off your support.

In-Game VIP Lounge
Spend time in an exclusive area inside the game. This social area is limited to Lifetime Subscribers only.

A Unique Costume Piece
Show off your lifetime status in style.

It is nice to see the Front-of Queue item on that list, though it might have helped a bit to have that a few weeks ago.

    I’ve never been in a queue since STO went live. I thought they already had front-of-queue for lifetime subscribers.

    Interesting list. Especially the the front-of-queue support. I’m not sure being a lifetime subscriber should grant my support tickets any more weight than those of a monthly (or yearly) subscriber. I can understand this kind of division when the price model has strata (for example: premium subscription (14.99/month); regular subscription (9.99/month); free player), but in this case you just paid more up front in hopes for a return on the investment as the game goes on.

    Don’t get me wrong, jumping in to the lifetime sub like that at the very start should get you *something*, but this particular something seems like it might be one that will lead to the “regular” subscribers feeling a bit insulted. Hopefully this does not turn into another PR nightmare for Cryptic.

    As for the chat channel and lounge…well, they serve to segregate the lifetimers from the regulars in a very clique-forming kind of way, but they are neat perks and I guess we’ll see how the social aspect plays out. :)

    Doh! Misread the queue thing. Same theory, but server rather than support. I don’t know how often there are queues any more, but I still think the regular subscribers deserve to get in on equal footing with the lifetimes.

    Regardless, thanks for posting this. Hopefully, 100% of game perks won’t be for us lifers – it’d be nice if Cryptic did a monthly/quarterly bonus to reward longer-term subscribers, the way CoH does.

    I also bought the lifetime subscription this week (getting in before UK VAT goes up!) but I’m puzzled where this VIP Lounge is? Starbase? DS9? Spacedock?
